Mosaic Company recognized for corporate responsibility

by Karen Kornelsen

In April 2012 Mosaic Company was recognized on Corporate Responsibility Magazine’s 12th annual 100 Best Corporate Citizens list for the third year in a row. The list is known as the world’s top corporate responsibility ranking based on publicly available information.

Mosaic Company runs three mines in Saskatchewan and is the world's leading producer and marketer of concentrated phosphate and potash, two of the primary nutrients required to grow the food the world needs.

This year, their ranking jumped from 67 to 28 in recognition of accomplishments such as reusing or recycling approximately 90 per cent of all water used in Mosaic’s North American mining and manufacturing operations. Mosaic owns more than 21,000 acres on which it has proposed, committed or executed a conservation easement to ensure long-term protection of lands or waters of particular sensitivity.

The company also was noted for its philanthropic projects, including donations of product, agronomic expertise and logistics support to its Mosaic Villages Project in Guatemala, India and seven African countries.
