Hitachi Construction Machinery recently announced a plan to launch two new truck models: EH3500AC-3 and EH4000AC-3. These rigid-frame haul trucks are designed to improve the efficiency of miners everywhere, with target gross machine operating weights of 709,888 and 846,575 pounds respectively.

Brian Mace, manager of the Mining Applications Group at Hitachi Construction, said these new trucks act as replacements for the already popular EH3500ACII and EH4000ACII models.

“The new rigid-frame haulers complete the lineup for Hitachi’s EH AC-3 series of haulers,” Mace said. Hitachi’s years of experience have brought forth “a series of innovative, functional features that result in more efficient hauling.”

The advanced AC-drive system is the most significant improvement, Mace said.

“Three new innovative features provide increased efficiency, reliability and durability of our trucks to meet the demanding requirement of our customers," said Mace.

  • Pitch reduces bouncing and rebounding to offer a more comfortable ride as well as adding to reliability and durability.
  • Slip/Slide Control keeps the truck on track while in operation, acting like an anti-lock brake system.
  • Side Skid Control assists the operator in keeping the truck tracking in the correct direction while turning, adjusting the truck performance to provide some correction in over- or under-steering conditions.

“We don’t get sidetracked building every kind of mining equipment,” Mace said. “We build trucks and excavators. And that focus results in highly efficient, reliable and durable trucks with powerful performance.”
