Collingwood, Ontario, May 21, 2015 – MacLean Engineering will be showcasing their latest underground mining equipment innovation at the 2015 edition of Canadian Mining Expo, taking place May 27th and 28th in Timmins, Ontario.

The company recently unveiled a front suspension system as a feature on its suite of Mine-MateTM utility vehicles, and Canadian Mining Expo in Timmins will be the first time a MacLean unit equipped with the option will be showcased at a trade show.

The MacLean suspension system features heavy-duty elastomer springs, combined with a Watts stabilizing linkage developed to reduce bump steer as well as provide the operator with a more comfortable ride. The new suspension system is recommended for material hauling applications that require high amounts of tramming and/or require the operator to sustain higher travel speeds on ramps.

“We listened closely to mining companies telling us that whole body vibration during tramming was becoming a critical Health and Safety issue, and we undertook to develop an innovative, practical solution,” noted President Kevin MacLean. “The MacLean front suspension system delivers not only on the operator comfort front, it also delivers a measurable increase in sustained ramp speeds (measured at one mine as a decrease in tramming time from 55 minutes down to 37 minutes), as well as reducing overall wear and tear on the machine’s components.”

“Front suspension is the latest example in a long line of MacLean innovations introduced to the hard rock mining industry in Canada, and then exported around the world,” added company founder and chairman, Don MacLean. “Working in partnership with our customers to develop hard rock solutions to hard rock problems is the reason we exist - we build for life underground, in particular for the people who work there.”

The new MacLean Front Suspension Utility Vehicle can be visited at Canadian Mining Expo outdoor booth #31.
