Energy, Mining & Engineering International Jobs Expo
“Australian, New Zealand and Peruvian employers will be on-site to interview, hire and offer sponsorships,” said Rupert Merrick, event organizer with Working In. “Stracon, a South American based mining company, will be at the Calgary and Vancouver expos recruiting for jobs in Peru.”
For those interested in the Australasian positions, professional seminars will be available for attendees to learn more about employment opportunities, exciting projects, working and living in Australia and New Zealand, and the process of moving “down under.”
While some have accused the Australia and New Zealand companies of “poaching” highly skilled Canadian workers while Canada faces a looming labour shortage, Merrick replies that, “These are global industries and any Canadian oil and gas office looks like the UN these days. There are 2,500 Australians currently working in downtown Calgary.”
The Expos will be held in Calgary on May 5 and 6, 2012 at the Calgary TELUS Convention Centre; in Vancouver on May 9, 2012 at the Hyatt Regency; and in Edmonton on May 12 and 13, 2012 at the Mayfield Inn & Suites.
The Expo features major industry players including Arrow Energy, SKM, Oceana Gold, Peabody Energy, and Lycopodium, among others.
Some of the many advantages of working in Australasia include gaining international work experience, adding exciting projects to CVs, pay rates that are on average 20 per cent higher than Alberta, temperate climate, beautiful landscapes, friendly people and exhilarating outdoor adventure opportunities. Peru is a great option for an offshore experience closer to home.
